New Trail Story from Tim Worth

For anybody that may be interested, we received a new trail story from Tim who hiked the trail in 2002 when the trail looked a lot different than it does today. Here is a direct link to Tim’s story on a different website https://www.summitsteepness.com/RTR.html

  1. Thanks Carol. That was a good idea to pre drive and GPS certain spots. I didnt have GPS on my hike, it would have saved me some walking. Id visited the western terminus before, and had been to Garden of the Gods, other than that, it was all new terrain. We probably got lost at the same spots; my recollection is finding the trail after going through towns and crossing the highways was tricky, also getting onto public land to camp at the end of the day was an issue a few times. Great to hear from someone else that completed it around that same time, it seems like the routing of the trail is a bit different today. -Tim

Thank you. I hiked the trail by myself in 2004. I experienced several of the same things you did on your adventure. I pre drove the area before the hike and gpsed where the trail crossed a road-which really helped but still I got lost a lot. I encountered very few people as well. Thank you. Carol Crisp
